During our travels in Thailand, we discovered a hidden gem that truly resonated with us—Poseidon Bungalows in Khao Lak. This tranquil retreat, nestled where the rainforest meets the sea, is the brainchild of Olof, a Swedish expatriate who has called Thailand home for over 30 years. Alongside his partner Tukkata, Olof has cultivated a haven that seamlessly blends natural beauty with heartfelt hospitality. 

From the moment we arrived, we were enveloped in a sense of peace and authenticity. The bungalows, thoughtfully designed by Olof himself, are nestled amidst lush greenery, offering stunning views of the ocean. Each morning, we awoke to the gentle sounds of nature, a refreshing departure from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. We even got to feed a water lizard from the restaurant.

Olof’s deep connection to the area is evident in every aspect of Poseidon Bungalows. Having been one of the pioneers in introducing snorkeling tours to the Similan Islands, his knowledge and passion for the region shine through. He and his team are always eager to share insights, from recommending local attractions to organizing unique excursions that showcase the area’s natural wonders  

The on-site restaurant, perched overlooking the sea, quickly became one of our favorite spots. Serving a delightful mix of Thai and international cuisine, it caters to a variety of dietary preferences, including vegetarian and vegan options. Dining here, with the ocean breeze and panoramic views, was an experience in itself.
